Julia’s Talley House opened its doors to Troutman residents in 1979 and has never looked back.  Julia and her son Joe started serving traditional southern cuisine in “Family Style” or “Cafeteria Line Style”. They wanted to serve people good food at a reasonable price. They have developed a loyal following.

Julia’s Talley House is owned and operated by the Shumake Family. Both Julia and Joe have passed on, but their influence is apparent in every aspect of the restaurant. Joe’s wife Kim and her children currently manage the day to day operation of the restaurant with their family and friends. They credit their faith and beliefs for their success, along with their dedicated employees.

Julia’s Talley House employ more than 25 local people, all determined to provide you with the best down home cooking and service in the county. Julia’s Talley House has developed a reputation as having some of the best friend chicken in the South, and is featured in magazines like Our State.

People come from all over the state to taste the the food at Julia’s, like Terri McCall, who says, “We drove from Pittsboro for a Sunday drive with Julia’s Talley House Restaurant in Troutman as our destination. We were not disappointed. We opted for Cafeteria style. Food is fantastic southern food. The fried chicken is delicious as are the all the vegetables that they offered. I will look forward to another visit to Julia’s. It was everything I’d hoped it be.”
